On the Sunday closest to Canada Day, we will be making connections between spirituality and this place we call Canada by looking at some of our national heroes. Our worship usually includes readings from the Bible, where heroes of faith remind us of how to live God’s way. When Stan MacKay was Moderator of the United Church, he would often say we need to stop thinking of the holy land as being somewhere else, and start seeing the place where we are as holy. This could also be extended to the people of Canada past and present that become role models for us.
